John and Anne (Pope) Washington of Westmoreland Co., Va. About the author Please feel free (and encouraged!) to distribute this rough draft among family members. Since this is ultimately intended for publication, however, I ask that individuals please obtain my permission before publishing any substantial portions of this material. Whenever possible, I am attempting to obtain full dates and places of birth, marriage, and death, as well as biographical details (especially military and/or community service, education, career, DAR national numbers, etc.) for both Washington descendants AND their spouses. I fully respect and will honor the wishes of those who wish to give years only (or no dates at all) for living individuals. Since Who’s Who and many other widely circulated publications continue to give full dates, however, I hope that living individuals will please consider doing so. In this era of “identify theft” the collection of genealogical data has become increasingly challenging. I can only say that people can “check me out” on the web sites of the National Soc. of Washington Family Descendants and the Florida State University (Classics Dept.).
