The following are two families listed on the database. It is our belief that the two families are one and the same, but with different spellings of the surname of the spouse.


Family #1
Hendrick Martensen Wiltsey

His birth and death dates are unknown.

He married 10 Jan 1660, New Amsterdam, NY; Margaret Meyerinck.
Their children:

  • 1. Thennis Wiltsie, b. bef 11 Jan 1674, New York, NY; baptism 11 Jan 1674 Reformed Dutch Church of NY City.

  • 2. Jacob Hendricksen Wiltsie, b. bef 18 Mar 1676, Long Island; baptism 18 Mar 1676 Dutch Church of NY City. He married in 1700, Abigail Ferguson Reformed Dutch Church of NY City.

NOTE: These two children were the same as the last two children in family #2.



I can only suppose that (family #2) Margaret's father's name was hyphenated and that his mothers surname was Meyrinck. This would possibly create her surname as listed above in Family #1.

Hendrick Martensen Wiltsey

Born Apr 1623, At Sea (Apr or May) on the "New Netherland"; died 1712.

He married 10 Jan 1660 in New Amsterdam; Margaret Meyers, b. 1633, Brazil; died 26 Jun 1704, Newtown, LI.

Her parents were Jan (Meyrinck) Meyers, and Teuntje Straitsman.
Their children were:

  • 1. Sophia Hendrickse Willsey, b. Nov 1660

  • 2. Jannetjen Willsey, b. 7 Jan 1663

  • 3. Barber Willsey, b. 1 Mar 1665, died that year.

  • 4. Marten Hendrickse Willsey, baptism, 3 Apr 1667, d. 1742; married 26 Jun 1690, in Flatbush, Maria Van Wyck

  • 5. Hendrick Willsey, baptism, 24 Nov 1669

  • 6. Myndert Willsey, baptism, 11 Feb 1671

  • 7. Theunis Hendricksen Willsey, baptism 11 Jan 1674 Wiltwyck Reformed Church.

  • 8. Jacob Willsey, baptism 18 Mar 1675
