Thomas Root, (1605). son of John Root and Ann Russel of Bagby,
England, came to Salem, Mass in 1637. He was an early settler at Hartford,
CT and a soldier in Pequot War. From there he removed to Northampton, MA
and was one of the "seven Pillars" when the church was organized in Northampton,
18 Jun 1661.
At this time we know very little of his history, but have put together
a fairly good descending line.
You will find a brief history of the Root Family of England in the
file: English Ancestors.
