Will of Edward Wright Jr: March 31, 1747

In the Name of God, Amen. I, Edward Wright, of Dorchester County, in the Province of Maryland, being sick and weak in Body, but of Perfect mind and memory, thanks be to God therefor, and calling unto mind that it is appointed for all men to die, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, Vizt., first I give and Bequeath unto my well beloved Son, Joshua Wright, a Tract of Land called Chapman's Fellowship lying and being in Baltimore County and to his heirs or assigns,

Secondly I give and bequeath unto my well beloved wife Martha all my lands lying and being in Dorchester County during her Life and after her Decease I give and bequeath the said Land unto my Five Sons, Vizt. William, Edward, Levin, Jacob, Lemuel to them and their heirs of their Body Lawfully begotten,

Thirdly I give unto my three Daughters after their Mothers decease, one Negro woman named Hannah & her increase to be equally divided between them and their heirs or assigns.

Fourthly and lastly, I give unto my well beloved Wife Martha all my mooveable Personal Estate to be her Disposal only.

My will and pleasure that my Negro Boy Peter may be sold to discharge my debts and also I do Constitute and ordain and appoint my well beloved wife Martha to be my whole and sole Executor and administrator of this my last Will and Testament.

In witness whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal this thirty-first day of March, Anno Dom. &c, 1747.

On the 12th of August William Cousey & John Finch two of the subscribing Witnesses to the within will being duly & solmnly sworn on the holy Evangels of almighty God deposes and say that they saw the Testator Edward Wright sign and seal the within will and heard him Published & declare the same to be his last will and Testament that at the time of his so doeing he was at the best of their Judgement & apprehension of sound & disposing mind and memory and that they together with Wm. Wright the other witness Subscribed their respective names and witness to the said will in the Presence of the Testator.
