For The
The Cheves Family of Early America

In our records, The Cheves or Cheeves Family has been traced back to the mid 1700's, where many have been found in the areas of North and South Carolina as well as Virginia. Many remained well established in those areas. A large number moved to Tennessee, Georgia and Mississippi as well as many other areas. A few remained, but changed states only because a new state (Tennessee) was formed. Their movement west took place in short steps little by little. See Max Reed's Movement West.
