Jacob H Cheves To Calvin Cheves........Deed 79 145/160 Acres
This indenture made this the twenty seventh of February in the year of our Lord one Thousand eight hundred and thirty seven, between Jacob H. Cheves of the state of Tennessee and County of Bedford of the one part, and Calvin Cheves of the County and State aforesaid of the other past witnesseth, that the said Jacob H. Cheves for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars to him in hand paid by said Calvin Cheves the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath given, granted, bargained, sold aliened Conveyed and confirmed, unto the said Calvin Cheves, his heirs and asigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land situated lying & being in the County aforesaid on the waters of Sinking Creek, a South branch of Duck River, bounded as follows. Viz, Beginning at a chinquepin Oak, Elm and Ash, marked as a Corner, thence North one hundred and nineteen poles to a cedar, and Hippery Elm, thence West fifteen poles to a cedar, thence South ten poles to a Cedar and Chinquipin Oak. Gaunts Corner, thence West one hundred and six poles to two Sycamores near a spring, thence South five and a half degrees East, one hundred and eight poles to a stake, thence East one hundred and thirteen poles to the beginning, containing by estimation seventy nine acres, three quarters and twenty five poles--.

Which said land was granted to Jacob H. Cheves by the state of Tennessee. State and County aforesaid of the other part, Witnesseth that the said Jacob H. Cheves for and in consideration of the sum of twenty dollars to him in hand paid by said John Stephenson, the receipt, whereof is here by acknowledged, hath given, granted, bargained, sold, aliend, conveyed and conirmed unto the said John Sthephenson, his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land, lying in the county afore said an the waters of Sinking Creek, a South branch of Duck River, bounded as follows. (Viz, Beginning on a Lynn and Oak, the North East corner of said Stephensons forty acre Tract, on William F. Stephensons West boundary line, thence North with s. line twenty 60/117 poles to a stake, thence West onehundred and seventeen poles to a Iron wood and Mulberry, thence South twenty 60/117 poles to said Stephensons North West corner, Thence East with said line to the begining containing fifteen acres by estimation -

Which said land was granted to Jacob H. Cheves by the state of Tennessee on the fifth day of March in the year of our Lord one Thousand eitht hundred and thirty six by Grant No 972 to have and to hold the aforesaid land with all and singular, the rights profits emoluments, hereditaments and appertain cned of in and to the same John Stephenson his heirs and assigns forever and the S. Jacob H. Cheves for himself his heirs, executors and administrators, doth covenant and agree to & with the S. John Stephenson his heirs or assigns that the before recited land & bargained premises, he will warrant and forever defend against the right title or claim of all or every person or persons whatever, In Witness whereof the said Jacob H. Cheves hath hereunto set his hand and affixes his seal, the day and date above written. Signed Sealed & Delivered in the presence of us.
