1912-2004 The following was a newspaper clipping sent to me by Susan Scidmore. There was no indication of date or the name of the Newspaper or where it is from. We are assuming the article was from an Ottawa, LaSalle Co, IL newspaper and possibly dated 19 Aug 2004 Pauline M. (Scidmore) Arthur, 92, of Ottawa, died Wednesday morning, Aug. 18, at Pleasant View Luther Home in Ottawa. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Epworth United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Crone officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Mueller Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. Mrs. Arthur was born July 13, 1912, in South Ottawa Township, to Leonard and Alvina (Gromm) Scidmore. She married Harry Arthur on Sept 19, 1937, in the home of her parents. He died in 1979. She was a graduate of Westside Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago and worked as a private duty nurse in Ottawa and Sandwich. She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, a Gold Star Mother, Ottawa American Legion, Ottawa Women’s Club and a 50 year member of the LA Salle County Home Extension. She is survived by a daughter, Lois (Glen) Gullakson of Ottawa; two grandchildren, Susan (A.P.) Rosche of Roscoe and Charles (Linda) Gullakson of Jacksonville, Fla., and five great-grand children. She was preceded in death by a son, Allen, who was killed in 1967 in the Vietnam War; a sister, Esther Gunderson; and a brother, Elmer Scidmore. Memorials may be directed to Allen Arthur Memorial Scholarship Fund at Serena High School or Epworth United Methodist Church. Pallbearers will be Charles and Gordon Gullakson, A.P.
