![]() The first son is listed by Moriarty as Thomas MORSE. The reason for listing Thomas at all is that a Thomas MORSE is recorded as joining the church at Dedham, Jun 28, 1640. However, it is now believed (The Great Migration Project by Robert C. Anderson) that this was really the father, Samuel's acceptance into the church by Rev. Allin. There had been a problem in 1638 when Samuel first applied for acceptance into the church. He was referred to then as Thomas and later upon acceptance as Thomas, but was really Samuel. Rev John Allin's wife was Margaret MORSE. She was probably the daughter of Thomas MORSE in England, and was probably a cousin of Samuel MORSE, the American Immigrant. Her father may have been a brother of Samuel's father, Rev Thomas MORSE, both sons of another Thomas MORSE and his wife Agnes _____. There is no reference to Samuel's acceptance as a church member, but there are later references in the church records to him, so it is now believed that he was the "Thomas" Morse who had been accepted into membership in 1640. {Footprints Note} The question now is.. How do we list Samuel and/or Thomas. Is there a Samuel? And is Thomas that Samuel?
