In Search Of
Harriet Elizabeth (Cormican) Wright
17 Sep 1907
By: "Jim Wright" JimWrt@aol.com

I am trying to locate my grandmother: Harriet Elizabeth (Cormican) Wright.

Harriet E. Cormican was born Sept. 17, 1907 at Parry Sound; Ontario, Canada, daughter of James Cormican and Harriet Adams. Her parents separated around 1914. Her mother went to NY; and married an Albert Smith in Pittsford before 1925 and later Albert Asbrook (1945) in Rochester.

Young Harriet was later (1923-1925) sent to live with her father's sister Sarah (Cormican) Martin, wife of James Martin, who resided at 22 Walnut St., Somerville, Mass. Harriet also had an aunt Elizabeth (Cormican) Pollock, wife of James Pollock who resided at 44 1/2 Prescott St., Somerville, Mass.

She married Walter L. Wright, son of William J. and Margaret Connell, February 7, 1925, at St. Anne's in Somerville, Mass. Harriet gave birth to four children (that I know of):

    Kathleen E. born 1925
    Mary H. born 1926
    Leo born 1927
    Robert W. born 1928

She dropped out of sight around 1929 so her children never knew their mother. Walter filed for and was granted a divorce on May 8, 1936 saying that Harriet was last seen April 1929. Walter died March 1, 1948. Harriet and Walter lived at 11 Rush St., Somerville in 1929; 299 Broadway St., Somerville in 1928 and 8 Pearl Terrace, Somerville in 1926.

Harriet at some point may have worked for Davidson Rubber in Charlestown, Mass. Possibly domestic work around the Boston/Somerville, Ma. area.

Have been to Parry Sound and visited with cousins, know one seems to know what became of Harriet.....

Most sincere thanks for any help with this search...
