Descendants of many early New England Families Briggs, Brush, Cornell, Ketcham, McLees, Paine, Whitehead, Whitman, Skidmore and many more ©By: Don Wright Frederic was born in 1868 in Ottawa, LaSalle Co, IL. He was the son of John
and Mary Scidmore. By Summer of 1870, John and his family had moved to Fidelity,
Jasper Co, MO, where they were enumerated in the 1870 census on 29 July 1870.
Frederic was listed as 2 years old.
Later that year the family moved on to Clarinda, Page Co, Iowa. We know the family was located in Clarinda in 1870, as his sister Mary died and was buried in the Van Zant section of the Clarinda Cemetery in 1870. The family was next found in in the 1880 census in Clarinda. Here Fred was listed as
a 16 year old.
In 1892, Fred married Minnie [Akin], born Apr 1873 in New Jersey. He was still in Clarinda in 1895 he was listed in the Iowa State Census. Sometime during the next five years they moved to Missouri. [The name Akin is only suggested] Fred was listed in the 1895 State Census as Head of Family:
On 2 JUn 1900 we find Fred and his wife Minnie in St Joseph, Buchanan Co, MO. Fred
is 30 years old and Minnie is 27. They have two boarders living with them. No children
are listed.
He remained in Kansas City until after 1930. The last record we have been able to
find is the 1930 census, where he is listed at age 60 and Minnie is listd as age 50.
His (or her) nephew is still living with them at age 23. We have yet to find the
connection between Harold and Fred. However it is believed that Harold is actualy
a nephew of Minnie.
No records have been found on this family after 1930. ![]() Please place in the Subject Line: WEBPAGE-HISTORY
