Elwood Wright

I have been researching the Wright Family from New Vienna/Wilmington areas in Clinton County,
Ohio, which abutts Highland County. 2 weeks ago I found by chance (through a wrong turn) the
New Vienna Cemetary. I found many Wrights buried there. You will be pleased to know that a
Pleasant L. Wright (male) is buried there. Born 1857 and died 1920, so I would imagine that this
may be a son of the Pleasant Wright that you are looking for. I will list with the greatest of
pleasure the remainder of the tombstones I found:
- Alice Wright, 1894 - 1938
- Rachel M. Wright, 1852 - 1944
- James M. Wright, died 6-15-1913 (according to death certificate) son of Thomas M. Wright
and Sarah A. Woodmansee (1828-1911). This one's confusing because the stone which all 3
share says, "1854 - 1918"
- Rachel M. Wright, 1911 - 7-16-1931, daughter of H. Doyle Wright (1880 - 1975)
- Stella Morris Wright (1879 - 1961)
- J. McLain Wright, 1907 - 1909
- Marvin Travers Wright, 1906 - 1929
- Pearl Chaney Wright, 1872 - 1944
- Audrey Olive Wright 1902 - 1905
- Martha E. Wright, 1916 - 1917
- Laurence G. Wright, 7/31/1888 - 6/12/1978 husband of Bessie L. Wright, 8/31/1891 -
5/16/1988
There is a Wright-Cummins marker for:
- Roland M. 1898 - 1963,
- Rowena W. 1989-1989, and
- John P. 1892-1966.
Joseph Wright (born in Columbiana Co., Ohio, near East Liverpool on OH/PA border),
11/24/1812 - 11/02/1907 who married Lydia Cowgill (born in Highland County, OH) 12/24/1815
- 02/10/1892. They had a daughter Ellen C. Wright (never married) born in Highland County,
OH 11/09/1846 - 01/08/1937, and a son Jonathan on whom I can find no information. Also in
this family plot are stones with the the names of Stanley and Daniel and no other information.

- Myrta Drake Wright, 1890 - 1963
- Lucille Nordyke Wright, 1889 - 1967
- John T. Wright, 1851 - 1927 and his wife May E., 1856 - 1933
- Jesse M. Wright (buried with the Tripletts family), 1883 - 1923
- Thomas E. Wright, 1881 - 1950
Robert and Thelma, whose information I neglected to write down because I took a picture of
their stone and amateur photographer that I am, got the wrong angle and I can't read the dates!
Lesson learned the hard way! Another trip to New Vienna will take place!
My family is unknown to me other than my mother, Mary Lee Wright, still living, born in
Cincinnati, OH 4/28/1926; her father, Clarence Lyman Wright, son of Frank (Francis M.) Wright
and Clara E. McFarland (all born in the Wilmington OH area supposedly) and Frank's father I
believe is Elwood Wright. I know that Frank had brothers/half brothers, Hugh, Gurney and
Bertram. Also a sister, Daisey Rannells Varney. However, I can find nothing to show that
Elwood is Frank's dad, but I do know that Daisey named one of her sons Elwood, and that
Gurney's father's name is Elwood C. Wright.
