DESCRIPTION OF THIS WEB SITE:
This Web Site covers many different surnames. We attempt to treat them all equally, but find that
there is more response in some more so than others. We draw our data from our Roots Magic
Database of over 157,000+ names, of which all are related by blood or marriage. With these
names are approximately 400 photographs. We add no names to the database unless they can
connect to another name already on the database. We are not researchers,
but we are collectors of information to be passed on to others. From this wide
source of information, we attempt to put it together to form large family lines, connecting
with many other lines along the way. It is this vast assortment of information that we will
attempt to present on these pages. Since we no longer publish the quarterly newsletter
"Footprints", it is more important that we put to full use the Internet. To give you an idea of some of the names on the database and how they get there, see the Messy Desk and the other side of this
screen. Even if the information we receive does not add to our database, we still maintain
it and attempt to place it on the Web Site. 2.
REBUILDING THE WEB SITE: 3.
PERSONAL RESEARCH CENTERS: New Research Centers will be set up as needed (as you the user participate in them.) 4.
INDIVIDUAL AND FAMILY HISTORIES: 5.
HOW YOU CAN HELP: 6.
FOOTPRINTS WEB NEWS: 7.
CREDIT FOR PARTICIPATION: 8.
AHNENTAFEL CHART LINKS: We recently found that the connection of Sarah Wright (on Jennifer's chart) was in error,
which breaks her (and my) connections to the Kelvedon Wrights. So it may take longer to rebuild
her chart.
9.
LINKS TO YOUR WEB PAGE: PLEASE NOTE: If at any time you change your e-mail address or web page address, please
notify us so we can change it on the Web Page. Be sure to include the page it is listed on.
10.
WEB PAGE LIMITATION 11.
SURNAMES: Most of the major lines that we will expand on, are listed in the Ahnentafel Chart of Jennifer
Root, however, we will include as many others as possible. The list on the right side of the Home
Page will be added to periodically. In some cases you will be able to link directly to the individual
surname.
You may also reach the individuals, by going to "Surname Histories - all other names", or
"Surname Histories - Wright" which is listed on the home page. Since we have more data on the
WRIGHT surnames, we have established a list of their names under WRIGHT Surnames index.
Most will be histories and biographies, but a few will eventually develop into Research Centers as
data is received. NOTE: Our cupboards are bare. It is taking more time than we planned to rebuild the coding
on the old pages. Little by little the pages are being worked on and will be moved.

VISITOR COMMENTS: 13.
GUEST BOOK: Before you leave, we would appreciate it if you would sign our
Guestbook. Please feel free to let us know what you would like to see on these pages, or
problems you may have in using them. 14.
BOOKMARK: 15.
POLL: 16.
WEB PAGE SEARCH: It sometimes takes a day or two before a new page is included in the Search Engine. So if
you are looking for a name and don't find it, check again later. The current search engine works fairly well for me, but may not provide the information you
are searching for. They (the producers of the search engine) send me weekly reports on the
names that you have searched for. From that information we know what names to look for to add
to the web page. So please put it to good use. 17.
LET OTHERS KNOW: 18.
ADDITIONAL DATABASES: This way, even though we do not find a connection to the Footprints Database at the time, we
may eventually find connections to other families. We can then click and move individuals,
families, descendants, ancestors, etc., from one database to the other. With the move goes all the
information, notes, etc. This is a long drawn out process to combine all the databases that I have
available, and is very time consuming. But in the end, we feel that it will be of great value, to you
as well as to us. So, remember, we waste nothing. All information submitted for the Web Page is
also included in either the "Footprints" or "National" databases. Remember, if you send in information to be added, please include your
first and last name as well as your E-Mail address, and add as much information as
possible such as dates, locations and histories. The more information, the easier it is for someone
to make a match. 19.

MUSIC ON THE WEB SITE:
First, let me explain that this is not a professional fancy Web Page. I have only basic
knowledge in Web Page design as you can see, but what is important to me, is that I am
able to provide you with all the information that has been passed on to me by many others.
We closed the original
Footprints Web Site and with a new domain, "Footprints.org", we began to rebuild it.
The rebuilding lasted for about a year when we were hit by a devastating virus. Now with that
cleared up, we will begin again with the rebuilding program. Little by little we are learning what
the users do and do not want. We will attempt to bring you a less confusing Web Site. If you
have any ideas or changes that we should make please feel free to let us know. We have rebuilt
our Home Page and will try to have most of our categories listed and linked directly from there.
Each of the categories will have a table of contents to direct you on to the actual web page. In
most cases, we will have only one sub page (with table of Contents) listing everything in that
category. In some instances we will go directly to the individual page.
Our Research Centers will no longer be listed as such on the Index Page, but will be listed under
the surname listing on the right side of the Index Page. The "Research Centers" will eventually
be for a SURNAME and from there we will go to the Individual pages. In most cases these are
my own ancestors and we have a lot of information to post in them in the coming months. Many
of our researchers as well as myself will be posting what ever information we can find in these
centers. Your help is needed in the areas of your interest. Once the web site is up to date, most
work will be done on the individuals.
We will also be locating and placing back on the Web Site many of the histories we previously
had, as well as adding new ones. In some cases where there is an active interest, we will convert
the history pages to Research Centers for your benefit. All histories will be linked to and listed in
the Individual Surname History Index Page and at times from the Research Center. Because of
the large volume of WRIGHT history, all Wrights will be listed on the Wright Surname Index
Page.
You can help by visiting all the pages, then if you see anything that you can add to, submit it for
our use. Many in our group have made copies (xerox) of pages of publications that concern them
when visiting libraries. That information could be very important to someone that does not have
that article available to them. In essence, that is the purpose of these pages... to pass on to others, what ever we receive. Also see "Submitting your
data"
These pages were added to attempt to bring you up to date information on what is happening on
our Web Pages. Since we have had no response or comments on them, and I don't always
remember to update them, they may soon be discontinued. To visit the pages, go to: Footprints Web News . If the pages provide a service, please let us
know.
As you read our pages, you will notice that we give credit to those that send in their information,
regardless of what type it is. We use "By:" (written by) for those that write the article.
"Compiled by:" for those articles that are compiled by you from many different sources.
"Submitted By:" for those articles that are copied an sent in. Some items are submitted on paper,
others via E-Mail. Either way, please check for proper spelling. I mention that only because
when referencing some material, you need to keep the spelling the way it was originally written. I
am not a good speller and if I run the article through a spelling checker, it would destroy
the original writing. As far as your own spelling is concerned, it is not important. I will try to run
it through a spelling checker if I remember to do so. I just checked this page and found that it
was about as bad as can be for spelling. (But we corrected it)
Footprints was build around the Ahnentafel Chart of Jennifer Root. The database began in 1982
with a home made DOS BASIC genealogy program and was designed to put together a pedigree
chart for her. From that small beginning, the database has grown to what it is today, (over 157,000 names, all related) all based on her ancestors. In rebuilding
this web site, we will attempt to periodically check for and link the names on her "Chart" with
Histories or Research Centers on the Web Page. This process will take some time, so please
forgive us if there is some mixup or confusion. We will attempt to do this with all Ahnentafel
Charts.
If a surname or individual listed on one of our pages is the same as that which you have on your
Web Page or have seen on other Web Pages, please let us know so we can provide a link. It is
important that a reader has available all information possible on each individual or surname. We
will list your link with the article and on our "Links" page. You may also, go to the
Add A Link To Your Page on the home page and add your link
there. This will place it on the board right away. Many links that were added to the old Web
Page will have to be added again. If you want us to add a link to your web page from a
research center, send your link with a brief explanation to: WEBMASTER@footprints.org
We are no longer limited to only 5Mg for the Web Page. We had run out of space to add new
information, but now we will no longer have to remove an older Page in order to add more which
allows us to be a little more flexible in adding more data. We will now have room for more
descendants charts, photos, and a full expansion of BIOs.
There are many Surnames involved, but most will be Histories or Biographies and not all will have
their Research Center unless you the user would like to add more to their biographies or histories.
Regardless, we will try to present as much information as possible. Because of the lack of time,
and the back and forth links, an "Index of Names" is almost impossible.
We would appreciate any and all VISITOR comments on our Web Page. A lot of additions and
changes have been made and many more are planned. Any suggestions, additions, deletions, etc.,
are welcome. Until we can get a "Comment Board" set up please feel free to use the Guest Book
for comments or send your comments to WEBMASTER@footprints.org in the mailbox below:
We would appreciate it if you would set a "book mark" for our Web Pages. However, it is
important that you set your Book Mark to our "HOME" Page first. Then if you find a page that
interests you, you can book mark it also. The reason for setting your book mark on the HOME
page is that many times the when revising our pages, the filename of an individual page may
change. If this happens, you can then start over using the HOME page bookmark.
It seems that everyone is taking a poll now days. Since it was available, I felt we should put it to
use. With the Poll we will be able to find out what programs the users would prefer to see. In
some cases it may be a program we are using. With that information we will know what types of
programs or pages to add or remove. You can take the Poll as many times as you want, but no
more than once per day. So each time you visit our Web Page, please take the poll. After
everyone gets use to using it, we will be changing the questions from time to time, but we will
maintain a record of what the questions were and their total numbers so we will know what needs
to be done. If you have any suggestions of what to put on the Poll, please feel free to let us
know.
A Web Page Search Engine has been added to the bottom of the Index Page. You can enter the
name of a person (Wright James) (James Wright) or a location (Kelvedon), or any combination of
words. So far it has searched for everything I have ask of it. I even took my wifes first name and
her married name and it still found places where she was listed. I searched her name in four ways
(Chizu Kawashiri - Chizu Wright - Suzie Kawashire - Suzie Wright) and her name was still
located. The Search Engine is located at the bottom of the Index Page.
If you like our web page, we would appreciate it if you would let others know of the site. We
have made it easy for you to do so by using the "Pass-It-On" icon. It is done automatically and
all you do is click on the icon, fill in their E-Mail address and it is on its way. We hope you use it
often.
We make use of all information submitted. If your list of names, queries, GEDCOMs, etc are
connected to our database the names are added. But if they are not, we have a second database
(our NATIONAL database) that we add all the names to. We use Family Origins, which allows
us to run two databases side by side. We use this system to compare databases periodically. At
times we have found new connections and were able to move new names and families from our
National Database to the Footprints database. The same applies to GEDCOMs received.
Special links such as the "Search Engine" and "Pass-It-On", at times causes the loading of the
Home Page to be slow. I guess that is the price you have to pay. This is because a check has to
be made with each of those companies, and when they are busy, it takes a little longer for the
home page to load.
In rebuilding the Web Pages, I have removed the music from the pages. However, I have found
that one of the reasons it did not work properly was because I had coded the players in error. I
have since found the error and have installed the music on only a few pages. Others will be re-
coded as I get to them. Please check Eulogy Of A Princess or
Polina Wright "Time Changes Nothing". It is possible that your
computer can provide the music, and if not, the program will still operate normally. There will be
no need to download a special program to hear the music. Please let us know if it is worth
keeping the music on the Web Site.

Will Continue To Expand.
